Berlin Night After Glow
Signed and numbered limited artist edition
An art book featuring an intimate portrait project of Berlin's iconic club culture.
Berlin Night After Glow is Chris Noltekuhlmann’s tribute to the beating heart of Berlin’s legendary club scene. For over two years, Noltekuhlmann opened the doors of his studio to nightlife aficionados emerging from long nights of techno-fueled escapism. More than a photo series, this project stands as a cultural document that captures the raw, unfiltered spirit of Berlin’s clubs—spaces where personal freedom, expression, and identity converge on the dance floor.
From fetish-inspired outfits and latex to eclectic vintage, avant-garde, and streetwear that transcends gender norms, the portraits reveal Berlin’s club culture as a realm where fashion becomes political, emotional, and deeply personal. With each image, Noltekuhlmann explores how individuals craft their own visual narratives and embrace self-determined identities.
Set against the backdrop of Berlin’s historical legacy—once a divided city, now a global epicenter of creative freedom—the book is a testament to the city’s enduring role as a sanctuary for outsiders, visionaries, and rebels. Dancing in Berlin isn’t just entertainment; it’s a ritual, a collective release, a form of resistance, and a profound celebration of life.
Featuring over 200 portraits, the book also includes an essay and a series of interviews by writer Cassidy George, which contextualize the work within Berlin’s cultural landscape. Conversations with musicians, club kids, and nightlife industry insiders delve into topics such as mental health, political activism, and queer identity, offering insight into the deeper significance of club culture beyond its surface-level glamour.
